Scouting Report: NSW Swifts

Form Lines
The NSW Swifts' season hangs in the balance, having lost their past three matches by an average of 6.7 goals, the Swifts have dropped to sixth on the ladder, with five wins and five losses. The Swifts' last victory came against the reigning premiers, the Sunshine Coast Lightning, in Round 7, which shows they can match it with the best, when the game is played on their terms.

In contrast, Fever have maintained a new level of consistency and maturity in 2018, sitting atop the Suncorp Super Netball ladder, following an impressive come from behind win over the Lightning last weekend.

Slammin’ Sam
Swifts shooter Sam Wallace has been a beacon of hope for the Sydney team in the shooting circle. The 193cm star from Trinidad and Tobago has come on in leaps and bounds this year, sitting seventh in the competition for goals with 305 (90% accuracy), while also taking 13 rebounds. Fever captain Courtney Bruce will be brimming with confidence after taking down Caitlin Bassett last week and will no doubt be looking forward to another significant challenge in Wallace.

Courageous Klau
Sarah Klau has been one of the more consistent performers for the Swifts throughout the year. Klau currently sits seventh in the league for intercepts (18) and third in the league for deflections (49), showing she isn’t afraid to put her body on the line in the defensive third for her team. However, she might have to reel in her attacking side this week, with Jhaniele Fowler and Nat Medhurst in ominous shooting form for the Fever.

Flight Paths
This will be the Swifts' third game in a row in their home state, while the Fever will travel to Sydney for first of two trips in three weeks.
