West Coast Fever and Samsung Diamonds defender Courtney Bruce says she’s looking forward to building on her experiences in the national environment.
Bruce joined her Australian team mates at the Australian Institute of Sport last week for the Diamonds camp, which saw the 2017/18 squad put through their paces ahead of the upcoming Quad Series and Constellation Cup.
The 23-year-old said the camp was different to the past ones she’d attended.
“It was fantastic being back in the Diamonds environment,” Bruce said.
“Being back with the girls and getting to immerse myself in all things Diamonds was amazing.”
“The camp this time around was a lot different to what we normally do.”
“It aimed to make us feel uncomfortable and challenged us to find a way to be comfortable amongst all the mess.”
Bruce will now head to Melbourne to continue working with Head Coach Lisa Alexander and fellow defenders April Brandley, Sharni Layton, Emily Mannix and Jo Weston, before travelling to the Sunshine Coast for the final camp leading into the Quad Series.
The Gosnells product said the camp excited her for the Quad Series and Constellation Cup.
“It’s an absolute honour to be named in the two series and I can’t wait to get out there with the girls,” she said.
“Being able to pull on the green and gold is a blessing every time.”
“Just being in and around the Diamonds environment and the girls makes me want to challenge myself more and more.”
The 2017 Netball Quad Series will be competed between Australia, South Africa, England and New Zealand from August 26 to September 3, with the Constellation Cup taking place from October 5 to October 14.
