The increased hype around West Coast Fever won't be a distraction, with the Club firmly focused on their Round 3 match against the Sunshine Coast Lightning, according to Captain Courtney Bruce.
Fever sit atop the Suncorp Super Netball ladder, following two outstanding victories in the opening fortnight of play, including an impressive 11-goal victory over premiership fancies Magpies Netball at Perth Arena on Saturday night.
“We’re taking everything in our stride,” Bruce said.
“Belief is a funny thing, and we want to talk about winning and we do use the word ‘finals’ and talk about going to a Championship now, so we’re happy to have that hype around us.”
“We know what our brand of netball is and we know what we need to do to win week in, week out and we’re just happy to ride the wave at the moment.”
The 24-year-old defender said she was happy to be the targets of the competition.
“If people want to chase us down, then they can go for that,” Bruce said.
“We’re happy sitting on top of the ladder and doing what we are doing, but we do have room to grow.”
“We’re excited that people are backing us in, and we back ourselves in, so should the rest of the country.”
Bruce has been outstanding in Fever’s opening two games, recording five interceptions and seven deflections in the two wins.
Fever now travel to Sippy Downs to face reigning premiers the Sunshine Coast Lightning, who are yet to win a game in 2018.
The West Coast side will then return home to face the NSW Swifts at HBF Stadium on Sunday, May 20, and tickets can be secured here.
The Club also launched its 3-Game Membership category on Saturday night, which gives fans access to any three of the remaining four games at Perth Arena, and can be purchased here.
