West Coast Fever are back into training at the State Netball Centre, with their defensive pressure and communication, the main focus for the group.
According to defender, Stacey Francis, it’s defensive pressure down the court and immediately after turn-overs which is their biggest area for improvement.
“We looked at the stats and found our ability to impact defensively across the court needed improvement.”
“Last season, we took for granted that we had a new team. This year we’re focussing on communicating with each other, winning games and building a culture,” said Francis.
Fever look to improve on their performance of last season with a move up the ladder in their sights.
“We’re hoping to improve on last year’s position and take the time to build on our team culture.”
With the introduction of Jhaniele Fowler-Reid to the team, Fever gain experience that will give the young side the opportunity to improve.
“She is completely unstoppable. She is a weapon for us.”
Fever are set to host a practice match against Collingwood Magpies in Perth where they will have the chance to put their hard work and training to the test in preparation for the upcoming 2018 season.
