Fever step toward permanent home court

West Coast Fever has taken another significant step towards securing RAC Arena as its permanent home venue, following a renewed commitment from the City of Perth.

Fever first played at RAC Arena in 2013, with the Club’s most recent game at the venue, the 2018 Suncorp Super Netball Grand Final, setting a National League attendance record of 13,722.

The Club averaged more than 8,000 people across its RAC Arena games in 2018, far ahead of any other Suncorp Super Netball club.

The City of Perth officially joined Fever as a Major Partner for the inaugural Suncorp Super Netball season in 2017, and estimated that the 2018 decider injected more than $1 million into the local Perth economy.

Chair Commissioner Eric Lumsden said the City of Perth partnership will help the long-term growth of the team, and cement West Coast Fever as WA’s premier female sporting franchise.

“It was fantastic to see the City become a sea of green for the West Coast Fever in 2018, and we’re pleased to be supporting the team for the next three years,” Mr Lumsden said.

“The Fever have proven to be formidable opponents in the competition, and we’re proud the City of Perth’s support will see the team play all seven home games in the heart of Perth.”

West Coast Fever Managing Director Simon Taylor said Members and fans would be the biggest beneficiaries.

“We have the goal of taking all West Coast Fever home games to RAC Arena, so to be able to move closer to that off the back of our most successful season is something we’re incredibly excited about,” Taylor said.

“Today marks another fantastic step forward for the Club, and I would sincerely like to thank the City of Perth for their vote of confidence and continued support of West Coast Fever.”

“RAC Arena is the best netball venue in Suncorp Super Netball, and one that is certainly popular with our Members and fans, and I look forward to seeing them continue to support us passionately in 2019.”

The Club has already seen significant support from fans for the 2019 season, with more than 2,500 people registering their interest for a Membership, with packages going on sale next week.
