New West Coast Fever shooter Jhaniele Fowler has arrived in Perth ahead of her first season with the Club, and urged the West Australian public to throw their support behind the Club in the second season of Suncorp Super Netball.
The 198cm tall Jamaican has been an imposing figure in goal circles in recent years, scoring more than 3,500 goals at 91% in her past five seasons with the Southern Steel, and was eager to make an impact in world’s premier domestic competition.
“Fever are a very competitive team and they really work hard as far as I have seen over the years,” Fowler said.
“They’ve always just been up there, so I feel that being a part of that will be really good for me.”
“What I can bring is what I feel everyone knows I have, just my raw talent and the improvement that I will make to slot in nicely with the Fever group.”
Head Coach Stacey Marinkovich welcomed Fowler to the Club.
“Jhaniele is one of the world’s best netballers, and Fever Members and fans should be incredibly excited to see her in the green dress this season,” Marinkovich said.
“As a Club, we value being united, selfless and disciplined, and we firmly believe that these values resonate with Jhaniele both as an athlete and as a person.”
“Jhaniele’s desire to not only play her role within the broader Club, but contribute to it, certainly aligns with the culture we’re building here at Fever, and that was something that attracted us to her.”
Marinkovich was also excited by how dynamic her shooting circle would be in 2018.
“With Jhaniele working alongside Nat Medhurst and Kaylia Stanton across the remainder of the pre-season and into the season proper, we’re confident that whatever combination we put out on court will cause head aches for our opposition,” she said.
“We are working incredibly hard in the pre-season, and Jhaniele’s arrival will certainly add a new dynamic to training, as we continue to strive for the success that our Members and fans so richly deserve.”
