West Coast Fever Head Coach Stacey Marinkovich will create history on Saturday night when her side host Magpies Netball at Perth Arena in Round 13 of Suncorp Super Netball.
The game will be Marinkovich’s 40th in charge of Fever, surpassing Norma Plummer (39) as the longest serving Head Coach in the Club’s history.
Fever Executive Officer, Tamara Sheppard, says the milestone is testament to Marinkovich’s vision and work ethic.
“Stacey is one of the most professional and dedicated coaches I’ve had the pleasure of working with,” Sheppard said.
“She is widely respected among her players, fellow coaches and the support and administrative staff of our Club
“Her long term vision is something we are all invested in, from our Board through to our Members, and it is a journey which she is determined to see us all contribute to.”
“Typically Stacey won’t want this game to be about her milestone but it is certainly an achievement worth acknowledging.”
Marinkovich took over as Head Coach at the beginning of the 2015 season, having served as Plummer’s Assistant Coach from 2012-14.
In her inaugural season in charge, she guided Fever to their maiden finals appearance and narrowly missed repeating that feat in 2016.
At the end of last season, Marinkovich re-committed to the Club for a further four seasons, pledging to lead a new look Fever team through until at least the end of the 2020 campaign.
Fittingly, Marinkovich’s milestone will be celebrated in front of what is shaping as Fever’s largest home crowd of the 2017 season, with in excess of 7,000 supports anticipated at Perth Arena on Saturday night.
