West Coast Fever v Melbourne Vixens
West Coast Fever’s final match of the season was a special one, as we hosted our fourth annual dedicated Indigenous Round at Perth Arena. Things didn’t start well for the home side, as Fever missed two of their first three attempts on goal. The Vixens made us pay, as they converted 18 of their 20 first quarter attempts. Verity Charles started well with an interception, while Kaylia Stanton converted 9/11.

The second term proved to be much tighter, with both sides converting their opportunities. The margin ballooned out to 11 goals inside the first two minutes, before a mini revival saw Fever cut the margin to six goals. The visitors then settled, converting five of the final seven goals to lead by 10 at half time. Kaylia Stanton was going well under the post with 11/13.

The third quarter again proved too be tight, but the Vixens managed to control the ball and extend their lead to 12 at the final change. Kate Beveridge was injected into the game and combined well with Kaylia Stanton as neither shooter missed a shot. Courtney Bruce recorded another interception, while Ingrid Colyer collected nine feeds.

The Vixens flexed their muscles in the final term, outscoring us 22 goals to 8. Fever didn’t record consecutive scores in the final term, as the Vixens ran out 26 goal victors. Courtney Bruce finished with three interceptions, while Ingrid Colyer recorded 17 centre pass receives and 24 feeds.
